Dr. Katie Skovborg grew up in an active, outdoor-focused family in Bend, OR.  There was plenty of travel, horseback riding, skiing, and trying to keep up with her two older brothers.  Katie’s mom had a special influence on her and taught her to lead with grace and compassion, rather than making lots of noise. Her father was a successful veterinarian, so she saw the challenges and rewards of running your own medical clinic at an early age.  Because of this early exposure she went to work in a dental clinic owned by a family friend in high school.  Answering phones, greeting patients, and seeing the difference a good dentist can do to help people cemented her desire to pursue this career.  More than 40 years later, she is living out that childhood dream. 

Dr. Skovborg followed her father to undergraduate education at Washington State University.  She loved her sorority community, but focused on academics, earning phi beta cappa honor graduate distinction.  After 4 years in small town Pullman, WA she was ready for the big city.  NYU School of Dentistry was the next stop, and she enjoyed every minute of it.  The energy of the city, the shared challenges with classmates, and the rigor of the coursework all made for a wonderful phase in life. 

Upon returning to Oregon, Dr. Skovborg joined Gentle Dental and spent nearly 20 years honing her craft.  Patients became like family and her staff were very sad to see her go as she embarked on this next chapter of owning and operating her own practice, West Tabor Dental. 

Dr. Skovborg is thankful that Dr. Price is staying on with the practice and providing a smooth transition for the patients and staff.  They have enjoyed a wonderful professional relationship with very similar practice styles.  Both see many good things for West Tabor Dental in the future.
